World Book Day (04 March 2020)
World Book Day celebrations today in Senior Infants 🙂
A lot of fun was had. We made Magic Milk and playdough, we learned about the properties of oil and water and we did an experiment using primary colours called Water Walking. They were all a big hit! We also headed outside and learned about planting. Hopefully our garden will be colourful come spring!
Halloween Dress-Up Day
Well, what a scary start to the day! We initially thought the army had been deployed to keep us in check for the Level 5 restrictions, followed this up by thinking we were being attached by vampires…but all was okay because the superheroes saved the day. Thank you Harley Quinn, Batman and Spiderman, we are forever in your debt 🙂 We’d also like to thank Woody who managed to round up the rest of the ghosts and ghouls!
We decided to hold a hair raising dress-up day in our school and have a lot of fun. Our Dress-Up day was in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
We have had lots of fun this week. We explored our local area looking for numbers and shapes. We spotted numbers on the side of the LUAS, on the ground and on the back of cars, and in plenty of other places too!
Senior Infants have been developing their drawing skills during visual art learning this September. Catherine and her class have discussed and explored portraiture this month and we are excited to share their personal portraits part of our ‘WOW’ art display. We hope you enjoy our beautiful work.

What an exciting day we had. We headed off the visit the Fly Me To The Moon workshop in The Ark in town today and what fun we had!
Artist Jole Bortoli guided the children through the exhibit answering all their questions and listening to their thoughts on the exhibit.
Everyone then got to create their idea of space and their very own space alien.

So much excitement! We moved into our new building and the children were delighted. It was hard to capture the moment because the children where so excited and couldn’t stay still for long! They love their new classroom and their Aistear room. There is so much room for them to play 🙂

Some of the Mums came in to teach us all about Diwali. We had lovely food, did fun activities and learned lots. Thanks so much to Geetha, Leelavathi, Payal, Shireesha and Suriya for a very enjoyable and informative few hours. We really were delighted to learn all these new things.

What a wonderful way to discover all about Samhain or Halloween. A very special thank you must be given to Elaine, Farrah and John as well as all the other parents who joined in.
This morning parents of our Junior infants class came into the school to explain the origins of Halloween beginning with…
“It started long ago in Celtic times…”
Needless to say the children where enthralled with the wonderful presentation. However, it didn’t stop there. They learned all about the Púca, a creature of Celtic folklore. The children also enjoyed a game of Snap Apple (already getting in one of their five a day) and some delightful crafts.
Tomorrow we will be learning all about Diwali
