V is for volcano
To help us learn our sound of the week we did a really fun volcano eruption experiment. We loved watching the chemical reaction when we added vinegar to the baking soda, washing up liquid and paint. Then we drew volcano pictures and wrote the word volcano to label them.
Jack and the Beanstalk
We had so much fun learning about Spring for our Aistear theme.
We read Jack and the beanstalk and made our own pictures, had lots of fun in the garden centre role play area, and printed spring blossoms using broccoli!
Look at our beautiful wind socks! First we made patterns using crayons and different types of lines-straight, wavy, swirly etc. We then covered with watercolour paints before attaching our ribbons. We had lots of fun trying them out on a windy day in yard.
Junior Infants went on a first outing to Woodies to see a real garden centre and get ideas for our Aistear role play area. The children were amazing listening to all the adults and staying safe crossing the roads. We saw lots of different spring flowers and the garden statues were a big favourite! We chose a tree for our class and will all take part in looking after it. After a close vote he has been named “Teep the tree”!
Junior Infants had so much fun for World Book Day. We had some great costumes and enjoyed sharing our favourite books with the class. The children are excited about using their book tokens!
Believe it or not, Becky’s Junior Infants has a blast dressed up for Halloween!
Junior Infants are doing so well settling into their new routine at big school. We are doing the theme “Myself” and really enjoying getting to know each other. We have been playing doctor’s role play for Aistear as well as lots of other fun activities to build our play, fine motor and social skills.
We have already learned our first action song in Irish – Rolai Polai!
